Hunting and poaching are often confused but in fact are quite different.

Hunting is the legal harvest of animals that when managed sustainably:

• Improves wildlife conservation programs
• Benefits local economies

Poaching is the illegal killing of animals for:

• Commercial bushmeat sale
• Illegal trade in animal parts such as ivory and rhino horn
